Advice & Support

Goodman Jones’ approach to our business is doing what’s right for the long term and we apply that to the advice we give, we call it Sustainable Business.

We can provide the technical expertise you would expect from Chartered Accountants with an understanding of the particular issues and challenges facing those responsible for managing charities.

However, our clients tell us that they value most being able to call on us easily and quickly for advice and support.   We are structured to make that possible. But we seek to do that alongside your existing team in a way that is complementary and cost efficient. We work closely with finance teams to make sure you focused on the things that matter most to the organisation and are working in ways that enable you to deliver efficiently and effectively.

We work closely with our clients on areas such as:

  • Forecasting & Budgeting
  • Strategic Reviews
  • Reviews of systems and controls
  • Management Accounting
  • Structuring
  • Mentoring
  • Recruitment

How we’ve helped:

  • We helped a national charity design and implement a new accounting system.
  • We worked with a theatrical production charity to help them develop their accounting system which now provides analysis of designated and restricted funds in their management accounting.
  • We have assisted a national charity in releasing restricted fund balances for use on future charitable activities.
  • Advised on accounting treatment in relation to new contracts.
  • Advised an international charity on its transition from a limited company to a registered charity.
  • Helped a charity review its processes, systems and skills which lead to the identification of the need for new skills within the finance team. We then also assisted with the role specification and recruitment.
  • Helped a charity assess its skills requirement for its finance function. We then devised a job description, managed the interview and selection process and advised on the appointment.
