The new SORP reflects two major changes to UK accounting standards, lease accounting and revenue recognition, as well as other changes in legislation and sector specific stakeholder feedback.

Following the publication of the consultation draft of SORP 2026, charities across the UK are taking stock of what the proposed changes could mean for them in practice. This session covers the key proposals and what they might look like in practice.

As always, the detail matters—and with changes of this scale, it’s important for charities to review the proposals carefully.

These revisions will bring important changes to how charities account for leases, recognise revenue, and report on certain specialised activities. And, as the upcoming Charities SORP will align with these changes, charities need to start preparing now.
