Careers at Goodman Jones

We are not just Chartered Accountants and Auditors – but business advisers who are passionate about providing an outstanding tailored service to each of our clients.

Our business is all about relationships. We firmly believe in putting people before the numbers—that goes for our team as well as our clients. So, no matter what stage of your career you’re at, we’re committed to your development and helping you reach your full potential. That way, together we can continue to deliver outstanding service.

We are accredited by Investors in People. Paul Devoy, CEO said:

We’d like to congratulate Goodman Jones’. Silver accreditation on ‘We invest in people’ is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places Goodman Jones in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.

Only 15% of organisations achieve silver and at the crux of it, it means that the right principles are in place but more than that, it means everyone is making an active effort and that everyone in the organisation feels the effects!

Our values

  • Growth & Sustainability
  • Innovation & Excellence
  • Collaboration
  • Good Ethics & Professionalism
  • Client Focus

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

We are a team that values diversity, recognising and appreciating the skills, perspectives, and experiences that each member brings. We believe that everyone deserves dignity in the workplace and that effective collaboration relies on mutual respect.

The benefits of diversity and inclusion include strong relationships, collaboration and fresh thinking, and these are all values that we try to bring into our work.

Supporting You

We recognise that for some, additional support or flexibility may be needed to enable them to fulfil their potential. That’s why our benefits package offers a wide range of support, including our family-friendly and “supporting you with life” policies. We aim to look after the whole person, giving everyone the same opportunity of success and satisfaction in their career.

At Goodman Jones we believe that mental health is as important as physical health, and that both awareness and support are vital for the wellbeing of our staff. So, not only do we provide access to mental health counselling, we also run firm-wide sessions on the importance of wellbeing and mental health. And in addition to providing on-site mental health first aiders, we run regular sessions for our trainees on how to deal with stress in the run up to exams. The way we see it, it’s part of our duty as an employer to provide holistic support to every member of our team.

Development Pathways

We believe talent can come from anywhere and actively encourage people to join us through alternative routes. We are especially delighted about all those who have joined GJ in a non-professional capacity and then chosen to take the path to accountancy qualification.

Our recruitment has always been open to all and when recruiting our trainees, we advertise on ICAEW and we don’t approach any particular universities as that could exclude certain demographic groups.

Goodman Jones is founded on a primary belief that building a successful and therefore sustainable business is about doing what’s best for the long term. That has always guided us in terms of how we manage our own business but also in the service we provide to our clients.
