Strettons Limited Client Testimonial

Jack Stretton Tobin and his brother Sidney opened Strettons’ first office in Hackney in 1931. The practice quickly made an impact in east and north London, creating a brand name synonymous with professional competence and integrity.

Now headquartered in Walthamstow with branches in the City, Stratford, Battersea, and Harlow, Strettons’ client base includes multinationals and government departments and the work of the practice extends nationwide. There is a staff of about 80 and the firm is in the Estates Gazette “Top 50” commercial firms.

Strettons is one of the larger property auctioneers in the UK and a major operator within the Olympics zone, handling many of the compulsory purchase compensation and relocation cases of the larger land owners. Their acquisition of the Stratford office in 2004 was a well thought out move which has paid dividends with Stratford now becoming the central focus of east London spurred on by the Olympics. In 2004 they acquired the old established (1830) auction practice of Edwin Evans”.

Strettons is the largest independent commercial and industrial agent covering East and North London and the City fringe. “People tend to think of commercial agency as largely offices, factories and shops. While this makes up the bulk of our work, we also sell, let or acquire for clients, development sites, religious buildings and schools,” says Director of Commercial Agency, Philip Waterfield.

Property management service. Director, Simon Tilsiter says: “We handle a rent roll of over £40 million per annum from shops, offices, industrial and residential estates across the UK. We deal with the whole spectrum of landlord and tenant needs from maintenance and buildings insurance to efficiently policing tenants’ obligations. Most of all we excel in adding value to our clients’ portfolios”.

Services provided by Strettons’ professional services division include rent review and lease renewal, valuation, compulsory purchase compensation, schedules of dilapidation, party-wall matters and development appraisals, with a strong reputation for litigation support, and are much involved in urban regeneration as greater demand is placed on living and working environments,” says Director of Professional Services, Philip Tobin.

Strettons and Goodman Jones have a lot in common. We are both long established firms with strong reputations, and a strong ethos of integrity. We are sizeable enough to be able to draw on substantial resources, whilst at the same time managing to ensure that all work is monitored at board level. We couldn’t look for a better business partner,” says Kirit Jethwa, Strettons’ financial controller.
