Charity Commission\u2019s formal guidance. <\/a><\/p>\nThe Code has been developed with the aim of being a support tool that charities, their trustees and key management, can use to aid improvement in governance matters.<\/p>\n
The Code is formed of seven different sections:
\n\u2022 Organisational purpose \u2013 guiding the Trustees and management on understanding your charity\u2019s aims and objectives
\n\u2022 Leadership \u2013 helping promote the organisation\u2019s culture, values and ethos
\n\u2022 Integrity \u2013 maintaining your charity\u2019s reputation, and managing conflicts of interest
\n\u2022 Decision making, risk, and control \u2013 guidance on delegation of day-to-day management and risk management process
\n\u2022 Board effectiveness \u2013 promoting board behaviours and skills, and effective monitoring of board performance
\n\u2022 Diversity \u2013 encouraging openness and inclusivity
\n\u2022 Openness and accountability \u2013 building public trust and confidence<\/p>\n
There are two versions of the Code \u2013 one for larger charities (generally those with annual income of around \u00a31million and above), and one for smaller charities (those organisations with annual income below \u00a31million).<\/p>\n
Adopting the Code will help to promote good governance within your organisation, and to demonstrate to stakeholders that you are an effective organisation.<\/p>\n
